Wow  glad you're ok mate

What size are the alloys you got refurb'd??

Dave

they're  16'' montreal 2. made by bbs for vw.

they were mint pre refurb as car only had 60k. no welding or repairs just shot blast and a dark silver colour. had them done to change look a bit and was due 4 new tires so tried the old two birds with one stone trick.

got 4 15'' vw steels with brand new bridgestones for 50 delivered off ebay so was running those over the winter to save fresh alloys for spring....

will post a pic of them if you're interested when i get back home tomorrow

unluck with the golf bud but nice find with the bora

head over to ukmk4 forum, some good info on there

if you need any info or anything bud give us a bell  :icon_thumright:

cheers, any tips for the v5? its the 150 so that makes it a 10v, the 170 is a 20v - correct?  i know its a camchain so no belts and waterpumps etc like the 1.8T and thats what put me off a tdi bora - what you save in fuel you spend on servicing?

depends who services it to be fair bro, cambelt and waterpump only need doing every 4 years/80,000 miles so not too bad

as for the V5, hmmm not really, pretty bullet proof if its been looked after which by the look of the pics has been bought off an enthusiest so all should be good there

whats the mileage on the new motor?

80k for the diesels? thats not as bad as i thought. 1.8T was 40k i think.

bora is a 2000 2.3 v5 with 71k on the clock. fvwsh to 50 odd k, then the rest by independants

full cream heated leather, 6 cd changer in boot, climate control, cruise control, rain sensor wipers, headlight washers, auto dim rear view mirror, etc. mods - audi tt pedals, tt brakes front 312mm and larger vented discs on the rear with tt carriers, tt ARB's front and rear, golf anni wheels, us spec rear lights and us vw bodykit, coilovers, wheels spaced 10mm front and 20mm rear, stainless backbox etc... pretty sorted can just drive it as it is and enjoy it. coilovers, brakes and wheels all within last two years.

nah 80k for all of them bud, 1 or 2 of the 2.0 tdi's have 60k but they have been changed to 80k now i think

sounds a pretty sorted motor to be fair bud and 71k is nothing on any VW engine so should be good for a long while

where in the country are you?

even the camchains at 80k? thought is was just cambelts that were replaced...

im in loughborough, fairly central to everywhere...

the service indicator on the bora says service in 1400miles so its due its 75/80k major then?

sorry bud, no 80k for the cambelts

the camchains dont have a service life, just replace when they become stretched or very noisey
