Well....I moved around for a while so can only comment on those places!
Leicestershire - My home county and love it to bits. Some great roads there, especially around South and East Leicestershire. B6047 is probably one of the best biking roads around (its the one all the Bike journo's rave about). Oakham, Rutland, Market Harborough, Lutterworth all fabs rural roads...not too many old bill and next to fuck all speed cameras. Mallory, Donny literally a few mins away from most of the county and Silvers only down the road. Plus...if you go the old A50 (A5199 now) to Northampton its even a great ride...lot better than M1. Nightlife is pretty ok in centre if you avoid the mainstream tart bars. And you'll never be too far from a great ruby?
Peterborough - The second capital of Poland. Silverstone very commutable plus Cadwell Park about 40 mins away. Not to mention its close to Leicester so even Mallory and Donny are doable. However, the roads are a bit flat and boring. No real hills or undulation. So can be abit 100mph straight, right hander, 100 mph straight, left hander. Roads out towars Bourne are ok. PLus you can then head off towards Stamford, Rutland (oooh see my bias...all heading towards Leics). Nightlife is pretty shite...but lots of Polish kebab houses and Pizza deliveries...."Ermm..vud you like Chilli, Salt Lemon please yes?"
Chester - So far my favourite place to live. Oulton (imo the greatest bike track) a mere nats cock away and well worth a ride out. North Wales (except for the police, Chief Brunstrom and the Welsh of course) is 'ucking awesome. The roads from Chester to Bala are the most scenic, brilliant, complex and quick roads you'll ever ride. The move was worth it for those roads alone. Great lads up here too...now firm friends and biking compadre's. Andy J, Chrisblack10r and Davemfox....plus PatF and Phil who I've met a few times. Not to mention the Tap on a Sunday night...great biker meet. Chester itself is fabulous pretty city with great shops and brill nightlife. Not to mention the selection of restaurants! Liverpool is a swim across the mersey (shudda the thought) and brill now with the new Liverpool One shopping centre?!
Blimey...I should have been a travel reporter!
Thats my pounds worth!!
