so gas on to get round a corner like on a jetski? or more like mid corner? what is the stability like? can you get air on one side going round a corner? what kind of engine braking? are the controls the same as a bike? what are the brakes like? how economical are they?

so gas on to get round a corner like on a jetski? or more like mid corner? what is the stability like? can you get air on one side going round a corner? what kind of engine braking? are the controls the same as a bike? what are the brakes like? how economical are they?

 

Too much gas and they'll push wide .. helps to lean into the corner if moving quickly. Gas from mid corner though from my limited experience.  Stable as - no problems with that.  Air under the front, yes, but only if your hard in it I would imagine.

Good/strong engine breaking - alot are 4 strokes these days and obviously they have alot of drag/resistance in the running gear. Controls are much like a jet ski, mine had a thumb throttle   Brakes are good -- the track if braked if I recall.

Economical -- dont make me larf -- they aren't.

Great fun though - I was on a guided day in the alps and we still managed to have fun/fall off and generally behave like idiots

the only reason i asked about economical was because i dont fancy being stranded on a piste in the middle of nowhere, because ive never seen a petrol pump mid run! i mean - is there a gauge and a reserve tank!?

but as you say, i doubt they would let us off on our own in any event..and they would know how long a petrol tank lasts, even with lead-footed/handed gabs at the controls

incidentally what do you do with your feet!? do you gear change and brake with them?

If they are from resort - you'll probably be escorted (esp. in europe) -- but yes, they have a fuel gauge and mine even had a fuel tap!

Feet do nothing except sit there outta the way.

i take most of my bike gear with me with my board anyways, so ill prolly book a few lessons or something and really get into it...

wonder what the license requirements are...im sure i remember there being an age limit of about 25 in the US and Canada, but Im over that now, so should be ok

thanks guys - hopefully i will get my onboard cam stuff before we go away, so i can take some snowboarding and skidooing shots awsome  not been to a park for ages...got an arbor element, so really a big mountain board and not so great for parks (but then my knees are shagged and my hands not going to be so great for pushing up anyway)...

will do - no idea yet - would like to go to the states as its so much easier to do everything over there and almost the same cost as over in france now that i know where to go and i have all the kit.

gonna see what the score is at new job before i book anything as i dont wanna take the piss lol...

ya you need a licence for the snowmobile...but some of  the money goes back to the keeping of the snow trails...the farther you go up north ...they are like highways 2 lanes wide and marked..they are a blast Gabs...no gear changing just twist and hold on...heated hand grips are a must...
