Not for me matey, never liked the look of the 999   V tins are great on the open road, but a 'pita' in town.  Expensive to maintain?

Theyre probably the most underrated Ducati coz ppl werent as keen of the looks after the 916 styled bikes.
Have you ridden one? Might be an idea to get a good test ride if poss.

Go for it, i would if thats what you would like. Is that the one with the piggy back front lights and the big box looking endcan, if so then that is the on i always preferred.

As it happens i got a test ride on the 1198 at the weekend, not because i can afford one but i spun a line to the dealer about wanting a new bike but didn't know which one to go for, i have always wanted a go on a big Duke.

Because they never achieved the popularity of the previous models, they should be available at a good price  I remember drooling over one at the NEC one year, seemed to fit me like a glove  . Never actually got to ride one (but I have ridden the 749) so cant really comment on that aspect, but its a Ducati, the Ferrari of superbikes 

If it has FSH and one previous (careful) owner  and you have deep pockets....................

try it and then see what you think

I have just that bike myself, and i l love it, its like riding a 125 but with one litre performance, having said that, it is down on the power stakes compered to the ZX10 barra, but makes up for superb handling, the motor pulls from zero and always puts a grin on me when i put her away after a scratch round, once you try it you will want it, TRUST ME, I AM A DOCTOR

Personally i wouldn't buy a bike with that mileage. Are you in a rush to buy now. Maybe wait til over the winter you may get a better deal somehere else ready for next summer.

What's wrong with the mileage? 14,000 is nicely run in. If it has a full service book then no worries. Ducati's work better when they are used often, it's the garage ornaments that develop the electrical and belt problems. If the bike is unused for long periods of time the belts develop a "memory" where they are round the pulleys and failure is likely.

Looks ace. This is the updated version with the new fairing and swinger. Ducati ironed out most of the iffy electrics from the original version. Shouldn't have any worries although maintenance would be a bit on the high side. Go for it.
