you say that about racing but most frames are black so if the numbers are removed you can paint over them and you cant ever tell a number was there.
They`ll only stop you racing if it looks like its been tampered with.

you might also have a bit of a problem with taking it abroad if you fancy a continental track day

yeah but i`v had bikes from race teams before and if they have replaced the frame after a big crash they are usually blank with no numbers

Apparantly not if it's transported t here by the TDO's, might be a problem if you took it there yourself

nope def not , even if it was ok and i had relevant reports about it then it would still fuck with my mind and once that happens i wont get the best out of it, i need to trust what im riding and i wouldnt a cat b

i'd rebuild one, but i wouldn't buy one on somebody else's say so

Cat D or C no worries for a track bike but Cat B would have me looking for something else unless it was dirt cheap.

yeah but i`v seen loads of bikes that the clip on has bent and the bar end has put a small dent in the frame, thats made them a cat b because the cost of a frame and labor involved in changing it is mega, Buts its still straight.

Thing is i can buy them i`v only even bought 3 bikes that are a cat b as i have no problem with it, but just wondered the general view on it.
I`d understand it if it was totally fucked as in the front wheel back in the engine but it seems bikes get wrote off for feck all.

for me it's the risk of it falling apart and hence potential injury which the cost saving can't be worth risking unless ofcourseit was my own cat b  where i knew for sure of the damage and accident details

I think if it was gonna do that, you would feel it was wrong as soon as you rode it. Or you would certainly feel something going wrong before it became catastrophic.

You can now put a Cat B back on the road after the VIC check so long as they have not removed the VIN's or chassis numbers which  they are supposed to do, but now breakers arent due to the VIC checks.

I used to be of exactly the same opinion that you cant put them back on the road, but it all changed when VIC came in, despite them saying Cat B's the chassis should be crushed etc. If it goes to a breakers and they sell it on and you take it for a VIC check, they also access it and will mark it as "Substantially Repaired" as well as check the identitity. Even if it has a Cat B marker, after the VIC Check and you apply for the V5C, it will be marked with Substantially repaired on the V5C.



Would i touch a Cat B? Depends on howmuch damage there was...
