brno
« on: September 10, 2008, 09:13:03 PM »

was on brno 5th 6th 7th last week we had track temps of 52 degrees and air temp of 29 degrees every day friday went out stuck the k5 in 4th and just ran round getting a feel for the track was running 15/45 gearing and on pirelli slicks. started picking up the pace for around 7 0r 8 laps came in checked tyre pressures went out with the rear 28psi hot came in at 34psi bled back filled the tank and went straight back out wasn`t getting the up hill chicane right going in to tight at the left hander and running wide onthe right hander but got it sorted tires where holding up great could feel movment when right over and was having to wait till you sat the bike up a bit before getting on the gas oh and next to nothing out there got past the big suzuki going up the hill after the chicane came in after a dozen laps or so getting a bit of tearing on the right hand side of tyre . cooled off and went out in my qualifying session changed rear tyre after session for the endurance race and chilled out till the race done the 1st 40min big crash at the start just in front of me and managed to miss most of it but ran over a carbon cover restart went ok and stayed out for 40min then came in and let the mate do the next stint after 40min he signaled he`s coming in went to get tyre warmers off and the front was flat bummer
saturday open session and out for around a dozen laps then done qualifier for the race tyres getting well past it so changed to the dunlops and went out to scrub them in and knocked a second of my time corner grip is so much better getting on the gas while still cranked over way earlier than the pirellis but they where no where near as stable also hitting rev limiter in 5th (only runing five gears round here) so went down to a 43 tooth on the rear which helped. went out in the race went from 8th row of grid to top 10 1st corner then took another 3 places into 1st left hander got pushed out on double right handrer and cut 2nd left hander to soon hen settled into the race was running great till some numpty on a 1098 ran me off the track he ran wide and took me with him kept bike up ran it along the grass and got back on track but lost a shit load of places and finished 20th out of 44but was happy with the way i was riding and knocked 3 seconds of my time on the dunlops. day over and tyres looking good quick bike check and away.
sunday went out in the open session to try a few things out different lines and stuff done a dozen laps came in a put the leathers away selling the bike and didn`t want to chance it as in all honesty tried to get my elbow down in the big left hander  and ended up running the bike way wide so decided to call it a day and help the mate get ready for his race then packed upthe van and drove the 1400 miles back home and every one of them was worth it .
sell your house , car ,body what ever and go do it .
