`Tis the bike or me" ultimatum.
« on: August 29, 2008, 08:58:42 PM »

Oh dear, just had the 100th row over the bike again ! :emb: It,s been 5 weeks since the crash and i thought the dust would settle,,,,, not a prayer. :-( I have been given the green light for trackdays, but no road riding) trouble is, i ain,t Joe millionare and realistically could only afford 3-4 a year..... Fook that! i ain,t riding three times a year! Thing is, this is new ground for me and i,m wondering if any of u guys have had this before and if so, will it probably blow over or should i start cooking for one!   :dontknow:

I've had this ultimatum before......

Needless to say, I don't miss him

I actually really hate people who try and make you choose. Yes it's a risky hobby, yes I may get hurt but ffs I aint dead yet!

Tell her it's the dog/cat/baby or you......See how she likes it

Where do you live magic? As if you have a local track that always helps, I've done about two trackdays a month so far and no road riding apart from 300-ish miles early on in the year, Road riding don't interest me in the slightest anymore, too many cars and too many sunday 'hero's' for my liking.  and TBH my riding has come on in leaps and bounds, started off in inters this year now hold my own in the advanced group.  You'll be surprised how many you can do a year if you budget and know the right people for tyres etc.

Well mate if she is giving you ultimatums about you and the bike there can only be one answer. The bike. I have been with my wife for 19years. If she did that to me i would say to her ' i want you and i want the bike. All or nothing baby, your choice ' . Having said that my wife would not even consider asking me to do that.  :icon_thumleft:

I'm yet find a women that understands the bike thing. All my ex's hated the bike, all it was to them was a means of getting from a to b when a car was not around. Until i find a bikin women singledom it is. Biking is part of who i am, i wouldnt ask here to give up something of hers why sound it work the other way.

Like BC has said, I would never ask Mr Kermit to choose between the two.. and yes suppose the fact I love bikes too may help... but even if I didn't I would not expect the person I'm with to change and give up doing something they love.... no brainer!!

She'll come round?!  :-/

[rofl] [rofl] like the " it,s me or the cats" idea Bikerchick82  Just one problem,,,, the cats are mine.  :roll:And our baby is now 18  EXJ10R in answer to your question my location is just outside Blackpool. ( Still a fair old trek to Oulton Park) I tend to feel rusty even if i haven,t ridden for 2 weeks!  Mr wippy, now don,t get the impression i,m a serial crasher or anything ( this is my 2nd incident in 10 years ) but to add some balance to the debate my other half says " I,ve had the knock at the door twice now, i ain,t waiting for the third!" fair point i know. Now i know some will read this post and maybe think " Fuck sakes man, grow a set of bollox its your shout" but as i said this is new ground for me. Never had an ultimatum before.

i passed my test 5 years ago....did the moto-cross and moped thing when was younger...

my parents fearing the worst...in their eyes...offered to buy me my first car....now i aint stupid...so accepted their offer

anyway...my 1st mrs knew i was mad keen on bikes..and knew it was just a question of time b4 i took my test

but i knew as soon as i passed my test my 1st marriage was doomed...she ad no interest wotsoeva...her loss

we grew apart from then on.....i was out every oportunity on the bike...she was home alone

but even she knew better than to give me an ultimatum like yours

anyway...now you've all gone to sleep will wind this up

i met through bikes my current mrs...she rides an 07 cbr600rr and loves bikes

still get out to play with the boys on mad rides when i want to

but its great to have a common passion...

so when everthing else is shit we still av the bikes  :-P

so...from my point of view m8...no descision to make

I'd agree with her and tuck the bike away for a few months whilst the dust settles and then discuss calmly of how much you enjoy it etc  :icon_thumright:  she'll roll over like a purring kitten ................maybe  [whistle]

Think my point was, this is who you are and although I don't know you, reading what you put you have been into bikes for a while. Sooo one cant expect to change someone thats into bikes completely.. maybe come to an agreement but not pack it in altogther. You need your seperate hobbies in my humble opinion..
