also my current tires are much worse than that, only driven motorway miles to work and back every day and the roads here have very few nice bends so my rear tire is a bit squared off too, but i am off to zandvoort next week and hope that will help a bit :)

Tut tut blue thing indeed, it's bloody light refraction you nit  [rofl] you can see a smaller "blue thing" circle at the top of the pic.

Anyway there wouldn't be that much rubber in contact with the road at any 1 time to pick up anything that size  :tongue3:

Black10R, well spotted! I was waiting for someone to suss the blue circles out!!!! I was gonna Photoshop them out, but left them there for fun. I nearly gave up and was about to post the answer  Anyway... Yes the tyres are Conti Sport Attacks (I did say this in my original post!). They have only a couple of hundred miles on them, so you can still just about make out the 'Conti Attack' imprint. The blue circles are from the film on the lens of the camera. The sun was low and I was facing it when I took the shot, which caused this.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I don't feel so bad about the strips now! I feel more content taking the piss out of my m8's rear strips on his new 10R! Until recently, I never really looked at other peoples tyres. At the recent bike meet, MOST of the bikes had strips on the rear, never mind the front. Still, it appears that it is no real guage on the rider overall, just how far they lean into a corner or roundabout.

If you want a gauge, my font has done 14,000 miles so far and I would say that there's still another 2k left in it, so that would mean that I don't really push the front in the corners.

Oh and it's also done 2 trackdays as well.

that was my initial first thought(i did see the blue bit at the top of the picture) but then i saw the writing and have never seen a tire with writing on it there before, also he coulda run over something and it stuck to his tire the whole patch of rubber wouldnt have to be on the ground.  BUT after closer inspection i noticed the blue is in the treads as well so it couldnt have been somethign sticking to it leaving me with light trick and writing on tire :)
