Just thought I would report back on my first trackday (a birthday treat for myself). I fooking loved it.
I was in the novices class, creeping around the track like a three toed sloth....
So the rain pissed upon us from my house to Newbury (picking up mate) all the way to Donny, but about 16:30ish the weather dried up a little and I got on to a dryish track for my first session, nervous yes, but the 10 wasn't, it was excited!! First session over with no problems, like i say slow but I was concentrating on my own game, not racing anybody and trying to be smooth.
My mate was in the inters and got a sweat on like a middleaged northerner at a thai brothel on his '98 redbull R1. Although he was a club racer back in oz.
My second session was dry as a bone and the 10 was fantasitc, and coming out of Mcleans?? (double right hander before dunlop straight) it was awsome the power was great. Really started to get confident, and very aware of the 10s ability, agility, and accuracy.
My mate (Jason) was blackflagged for wheeling along the straight on his second session, his mitigation to the marshal was "you can get away with that at Eastern Creek back home", the marshall curtly replied "thats nice, but this is Donington, not Eastern fooking creek" made me smile.
Third and final session was a dream, felt loads better and really made progress, don't get me wrong I was still slow but I was happy with my day. Jason took the 10 out for his last session and raved about it all the way home, made his R1 look like a pit scooter.
The great thing was as soon as we finished the rain poured again, the big fella upstairs spared me a couple of hours of fun for my bithday, and for that I am truly grateful.
Oh and Glenn for lending me his van.
I even treated it to some oil.
I am in the market for a van and trackbke
