Anyone for a dirty italian pin-up?
« on: June 07, 2008, 06:10:41 PM »

Ha ha...got you all fooled thinking it was some porn site showing dark skinned half naked mediterranean but sadly no..

Just some pictures of my the new addition to my family!  My 2000 W plate 748 Biposto

I bought it off a mate after 2 years of negotiation and am very very happy.  I've always wanted one and now I have one...

Technically I am the 3rd owner from new however, the previous owner (not my mate) doesn't seem to have the same love of Ducati's or two wheel machines for that matter so its very rough round the edges and scruffy and needs some TLC.  Nothing structural or mechanical but just needs to be stripped, cleaned and a big chunk of bunny love.

I know they are not to everyones tastes, but thats biking!  Can wait to get her cleaned up and on the road (hopefully for the last few weeks of summer)

PS. Its only got one mirror, cause I took it off to load it into the van.  BTW - Big thanks to Dave for the use of his brilliant tranny van! 400 mile round trip this morning without breaking sweat!

Well...the sun came out today so I decided to strip....

Gonna start the cleaning job now...give me something to do for the next year or so....however all looking straight and just crapped up.  No signs of rust or anything which is a relief!

Exhausts are off now as well (after I took pics)...so can get right in to clean.

Once tidied up....get it booked for a full service...may even get it stripped down and rebuilt.  Will wait and see (on cost mainly).  But considering what I paid for it, I could spend quite a bit on it and would still be a bargain.   Happy Happy Days!

as Spenny commented she,ll handle well, but dont, get too excited as by modern standards you,ll find her dog slow in a straight line. [wall]

Yeah....I'm not expecting it to be ferociously quick on a straight....thats what my ten is for!

However, I have ridden this bike back from London when my mate bought it...I had a Gixxer 6 at the time and it was definately quicker than that....and obviously more grunt lower down the revs and in all gears.

I took it out yesterday, just round the block (after having to jump start it) and it is soooo loud.  Then I stalled it and had to bump start it which nearly ended up with me rear ending a Citreon Saxo but thats another story.  Its got a misfire but I am sure a clean up, service, trip to Motrac will get it firing on all cylinders.

I have a thing for twins....especially italian ones.  So this is a real dream come true for me.  I am hoping to just be able to enjoy having my ten and 748 in the garage and depending on mood etc can choose either.  Plus, I really fancy doing a few track days on the 748...however noise regs may be a problem.

Magic: Do you know if there is any way to "tone" the termi's done...can you get baffles to put in or anything?  Obviously people use these on track days with termi's so I'm a bit baffled (get it..ha ha)
