but is that a real reelvant price to wages etc as it seems a bit ridiculous to me  and cars with a huge tax too  how does everyone travel then? on horses ?

You guys have pretty much the same reaction over bike prices as everone else who finds out about our tax system. And for those of you who would try to buy a bike abroad and import it.... I'm afraid the tax must be paid to register the bike and get a number plate so that won't work.  Alot of people buy bikes without the tax and just ride on the track. There have been many cases against the govt but none are leagaly binding so they just tell us to piss off. They are actually indirectly responsible for the high rate of road fatalities as safer modern and less polluting cars are way out of the reach of ordinary people but this does not seem to bother them. It is never even brought up by any party at general election time. They all aviod the issue as it make billions in revenue. Wankers
