A big favour.....
« on: June 02, 2008, 06:11:53 PM »

I'm looking at going away in about 4 weeks to the alps on the beast!  :headbang:

Was wondering if anyone had some luggage that fits the 06/07 10r that i could borrow (or rent?) for the week?

I know it's a tad cheeky of me but decent luggage is so expensive for what it is, especially as i'll probably never use it again! I do have a ruck-sack that i used last year but my god it gave me back some aches and pains!!

I can come an collect (i'm in Midlands area) and i'll leave a deposit or something to show i'm not gonna steal/damage it.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any help....  :icon_thumright:

I've got an Oxford tankbag and tailpack you could borrow.

But sounds like I may be away around the same time....Leaving for Assen MotoGP on Wed 25/06 and back on Mon 30/06.

If your dates are different PM me and you can borrow them no probs :icon_thumleft: I am just outside Daventry

I need to try out my current luggage now that I've modified the back end of the bike to see if it still fits.  If not I'll be looking at getting some newer stuff.

Careful with the Oxford panniers at high speed - I had the zip pull apart at around 140mph on the Autobahn.

I have a Oxford tail pack (which works just fine at 140mph  )that you could borrow, but I'm in Surrey (Woking).

Cheers for that Arek - do you know how they fit?? I've been told to be wary of the panniers as they sit very close to the exhaust on the 06/07's and i dont want to catch fire!!!    Do you know if they are specific to the 06/07 models??

Fridayman - cheers for the warning i will bear that i mind. I don't think it'll be often i'm under that speed so will need to do some testing!  :icon_thumleft: Trying to stay away from tank bags as i haven't got a double bubble and on long journeys i need to tuck down behind the screen by laying on the tank.

I have a Oxford tank bag, tail pack and a good HG Ruck sack you can borrow, however would recommend not using a rucksack as after a while even if full of light clothes it feels like its full of bricks.

I'm based south Birmingham

Drop me a pm if interested :icon_thumright:

The oxfords fit ok without touching the exhausts. They're just a pain to fit. The straps go over and under the seat and you need to bungee everywhere as well. Got both but only use the oxfords if the missus is on the back.
The cargobag is the best. 4 straps and 60secs, carry more than the 2 panniers together and cheaper too.
