Wales run 21/05/2008
« on: May 21, 2008, 11:53:46 PM »

well where to start, another great blast out to bala after meeting the boys at the petrol station, for the first time in a while i felt comfy on the run home and impressed myself with how smooth and effortless the run was going

a quick stop at the spar in bala for a chocolate bar and off we set for home

about a mile outside of bala heading home i cam up to a left hander that at first glance didnt look to bad, but as i rounded what i can only say was the first part of the corner the road went again and took me totally by surprise and i realised i was going to quick to make it

i hit the front brake (i know fatal error) which stood the bike up and took me across the road, towards all the trees, i tried my hardest to stop but lost the front end in the gravel at the edge of the road and dropped on its left side and it stopped with one almighty thud as the front wheel buried itself into the base of a tree, throwing me over the top of the bike and away from the bike and tree

well to say i got away lightly is a massive understatment, the bike however is fucked as its bent the frame where the engine bolts upto it underneath at the front mounts, the rest of the bike is light comsmetic stuff

i am totally gutted, i've had the bike from new and its gone

got to say a massive thanks and i mean massive thanks to davemfox for riding home to come back in his van and get me home, and also a massive thanks to bunny, andyj and jayj for staying and being what i can only describe as great mates

well where to go from here, i dont know  :-(

 that is bad news, sorry to read about your off, at least you're ok and in one piece, feel for you about the bike.  :-(  Hope that things turn around for you regarding the bike, are you fully comp?   Just goes to show it happens to the best of us. Godspeed on sorting things out Chris, and well done to your mates for being there for you.

yes, I'm gutted for you Chris but I'm sure that it'll all get sorted quickly and you'll be back running again in no time, it's a simple error and you came out of it without even a bruise which is amazing... like Chris says, the frame is dead but on the whole the bike is undamaged, well of course the wheel and forks are prob dead too, those trees are a bit tough aren't they.

It was a great run out and was just one of those things I guess

glad you are ok fella, that's the most important thing  :icon_thumright:

As they've all said mate, glad you are ok which is the main thing  :icon_thumright:

Am sure it'll sort it self out pretty good once the insurance assessor has been around to check it over

:iamwithstupid: Know how you feel man. Had an 05 model up til the other week, and managed to bin that one twice while I had it.

Like the rest of the guys said, the important thing is that you are OK. Everything else can be sorted out one way or another.

 Glad you're ok Chris. Sounds like your fully comp anyway so no worries really apart from a claim on your insurance. It will be a write off most probably, so strip your good bits off and get ready for a new bike :icon_thumright:

Bad luck mate.. glad you're OK.

Probably the wrong time and place to ask, but roughly what time and where do(did) you guys set off from?

Unlucky Chris, sorry you have had a little mishap  Glad you ok though.
Im off to the IOM in a few days but don't worry about the next ride out as when I get back you can always hop on the back of the big fat comfy slow sluggish Busa.  [whistle]

Well like it was said last night and also on here. At least you were ok as that is the main thing matey.
Bikes and dented pride can be sorted but lives can't so i'm glad you ok.

That corner is really terrible (the number of cars coming through it out of control last night was quite shocking)

And Don't forget to get yourself checked out just incase

Harv: We set out at 6:15ish from the petrol station in Dobshill (next to the Alfa Garage)

Absolutely gutting news  :-(

End of the day though, no matter how attached we get to our bikes, they're only plastic and metal and can be replaced, you're a bit more special than that  ;-)
