Favorite bike shop??
« on: May 04, 2008, 04:43:24 PM »

I'm just wondering where your favorite bike shop is for mooching around on a weekend.

I ask this because it seems that around my way the bike shops seem to be getting smaller or closing completely and they all seem to stock the same stuff.

So where are your favorite shops, nice accesory stock, good clothing range casual and protective, good bike showroom, coffee shop, good atmosphere etc etc.

I used to have one near me that met all criteria but it closed down, now i'm always at a loose end when i fancy a mooch.

I don;t have a favourite bike shop .... well you know where I go to buy my bits  [whistle]

but as far as bikes are concerned .... if I wanted to have a look then I would probably go here http://www.phmotorcycles.co.uk/ still 40 odd miles away though

I go here www.irelandsmotorcycles.com  They are a good bunch and whatever you need they will get it.

They have a sofa with mags laid out in the showroom free coffee and a good selection of  bikes and accesories. If it aint in stock they will get it for you  :icon_thumright:

They also help me with my bike and change my tyres for free

Oh and they sponser a few local lads in motox and road racing. I don't think you can ask much more from a bike shop  :icon_thumright:

On Yer Bike / Ducati Aylesbury is always a good place for a wander ( and a burger van in the car park too ! ) Done " plenty " of business with them and their racing / parts / accesories dept is VERY well stocked .

Only problem is that they ain't open on a Sunday , pretty much like every other bike shop around - must only be us mugs in the car trade that open on a Sunday  [whistle]

I tend to be disappointed really but if I want something I tend to try Hein Gericke, the people there are friendly and you don't feel pressured etc it's a good shop in my opinion although it is a bit pokey with not much to see really.  for bikes there's nothing around really, we have Bill Smiths in Chester but there's not a lot to see really. I did visit D&K in Stoke which was nice with loads of bikes to mull over........

All in all nowhere to go really and the small dealers are really up against it what with the internet and the larger dealers having much more to see, it's the same in retail with Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Next etc killing off the smaller traders which was always enivitalbe in the UK afterall, a terrible shame but that's just how it is  :dontknow:
