we got it....

Just signed up a new deal for my business...this is the one that will pay for my z1000 in about 4 weeks....just got to get the cash in and sort out a few bits and pieces and then we are away...

we will be providing internet to charter ships in the Mediteranean and Caribbean...

Also looks like my salesman will get the order I was waiting for a few months ago that did not come in....but this time its not just one its 5 channels...that is good news indeed...now what can I buy myself...

hmm let me see KTM X Bow, Ariel Atom or Lotus 7 rep....or maybe a KH250....

yep via satellite,ship board 1m sea tel fully stabilized antenna, 4 watt amp Ku Band, up onto  telstar 12 doww onto my 9m ku band dish into the hub UK (Normandy) then to telehouse (london ) via our STM-1 and then the world...technology...

the other deal is turnaround TV...we pick it up of different channels on various satellites, its then Ip'd to their production suite where they mix it with commercials and then we beam it back up onto one or more of the satellites...

All exciting stuff....

Atom is bloody noisy with the induction noise right by your ear, even with ear defenders its deafening....

I bet the latency would be horrendous ....  :shock: most corperate VPN's would be defunked by the excessive latency ... email and webpages would be ok .... streaming would be next to useless too  :-/

yep TFM1...telehouse north....latency is irrelevant for internet and with modern equipment can be used for voice as well without too much ado...typically turn around is 600 milliseconds.....

no margins are tight so its a good deal but not mega....well it pays for the hub and my capacity on one of the Russian Satellites, Express 3a so all my customers are profit...thats a good start....

Sorry spenny its a bit like turbo charged zx12s very fast but they still take time to get from a to b...using geostationary satellites 33,000 kms in space to talk to people across the globe at the speed of light it still takes the radiomagnetic waves around .6 of a second to get from me back to me via the satellite...thats pretty fast but still slow in computer terms....

We dont do the major channels just all the ethnic minority ones....

 :icon_scratch: We are a VoIP provider and Latency is everything .... BT use something called Interleaving which has error correction , it adds latency and messes with VoIP no end....

600 milliseconds is a lifetime in internet terms  :shock:
