I have had several Arai's over the years an Agostini replica then from 2001 to 2005 a Walker rep both of these I had no problems with the quality of the paintwork.

Back in 2006 I bought a Kitigawa rep from Hong Kong and the paintwork got stone chips straight away. At the end of September last year I bought a Nakano rep and when cleaning it the other day found a stone chip on the chin piece and it has hardly been worn.

 I am planning on emailing Arai, but beforhand was wondering if anyone else has had issues with the paintwork on recently bought lids?

got to be honest dude am not sure you can call into question arai quality  to stone chips, these are at the end of the day not a manufacture fault that your hit by stones on a ride out

i understand what your saying tho but i have noticed over the last 2-3 years that loose stones on the roads have becoming more and more evident, regulary hear them clattering my radiator and know of 4-5 others who have had to have radiator repairs due to stone's

Sounds like you should be complaining about the shit state of our roads, not the helmet

I dunno - I think he's on to something here.

I bought a Haga rep about 6 years ago - ace lid, but I grazed it on the queens highway in a bit of a spill.

So I bought a replacement - about 2 years ago - a van den Bosch rep.

Well, the newer one has suffered really badly from stone chips, whereas the older one is in fine nick (apart from the RHS being totally sanded down where I binned it)

I thought at the time that I might complain - but didn't

Bought my rx7 about a year and a half ago plain black and there are quite a few stone chips

got an rx7 and a corsair, got stone chips in both , tis the way of  the road though theres deffo more shit on the roads these days , and psg's got it right they look used.

I've got quite a few Arai's and never ha any problems. Stone chips are part and parcel of the riding experince and are almost impossible to avoid.
Saying that, I recently saw in M.C.N, I think last wednesday, a venturi type sheild for lids. You know the same stuff used to protect bodywork from chipping and scratches. It is supposed to be thin, elastic and transparent so you won't know it's there.
Maybe that will help.

I have AGV's don't notice chips but I don't clean my helmets cause I am a lazy git

I had Fish and Chips on Thursday, does that count 

but really , I have to agree that there is a lot of loose stones on so many roads now and cars have wider tyres than ever so it's just going to happen    the main thing here is a lesson to all make sure that we always have the visor down , even in a 30 or 40 limit as one stone in the eye will make a right mess

could it be that the whole industry has gone over to water based paint,i dont think its
as tough as good old chemical paint,,just a thought.
