Competency based interview
« on: March 22, 2008, 11:30:42 AM »

After 25 years as a Driving Instructor have decided to go over to the Dark side and become an Examiner. Have passed the prelims but now have t do the interview stage. I have been advised that it is an Competency based interview. Am told its abit of a tell me a storey type of thing with you being scored on each competency.

Sounds aload of bollocks to me, but being the 51st state of America, we seem to follow all there trends and this method of interviewing is becoming the norm, bit of a pain really as I can blag as good as the next person, this method of interview is supposed to stop all that.

Anyway, anyone got any experience of said interviews?, all input greatfully recieved :icon_thumleft:

Yeah basically they are a fookin sham mate. Instead of asking things like "If two members of your team had an issue how would you deal with it"
they say "In the past when two members of your team have had issue how did you deal with it" You either give a genuine example or if it hasn't ever happened you make one up. They don't want to hear you say "oh i've never experienced that". So it's a charter to tell porkies. A complete sham. You'll get q's on lateness, personal problems. At no time do they ask you anything technical

yes, they'll have specific 'role' competancies and will ask you for evidence demonstrating your experience of each. I think a stumbling point is if toy use one experience more than once , whereas it can demonstrate the competancy it might give them a feeling of little experience, it's a load of bollocks really  :icon_thumright:

Good luck by the way  :occasion14:
