Models and specs of the zx10r
« on: February 02, 2008, 10:50:17 AM »

Im a bit a    :sign4:  when it comes to models and shit like that of bikes,  BUT is there like different spec that you can add on when buying a new bike ??
Just like a car when you can get sport or Road race models ?

Was looking at the new ducati is that the top spec bike  for 24k?

mostly the answer is a big fat no..............

however there are some bikes where you can buy an RR version or an 'S' version for example the 1098 Ducati  but mostly no simply because we just love to buy the same as everyone else and then spend half as much again in making it 'different' for some reason   :icon_scratch:

Just seems odd too me that they dont have diffrent spec of bikes,  as  zx10r  with say 80bhp 100bhp 180bhp  , and so on like cars .
eg 1.4l 1.6l 2.0l ect........

But the bike is designed to cope with the engine it's been given so would be a bit silly to put a say zx6r motor into a zx10r chassis as it would be overkill and therefore probably too heavy.

That's how i'd see it anyway.  :icon_thumright:

however.......................... Suzuki do have a silly switch on the later GSXR's where you can set the power to one of three settings, I think they are call

Low - what a complete waste of time  :brave:
Medium - so you're scared you poof, get a smaller bike  :brave:
High - switch to here else why bother to buy it  [whistle]

Yes you can spec up a new bike like a car by adding extras. Like a car adding aircon, leather seats,MP3 socket etc etc. There is usally a offical extras catologue that you can choose extras from, carbon parts and such like.

Thats 24k Ducati can still be specced up further with the race ECU that needs to be in place to unlock the traction control.

would that be a complete ECU or just the chip?

i know the Aprilli Millies you used to get a chip with their race cans. :icon_thumleft:

with regards to Italian bikes from speaking to various people and reading
magazine articles its seems to be difficult to get more power out of
the standard engines by just adding cans etc.

powercommanders have only recently become available for Dukes etc.

do you think they are that way so that only the manufacturer can sell
performance upgrades :dontknow:

The new 10R has an option of factory mini indicators for the front and a seat cowl.

right i see,

just shows you need to know the right people when it comes to tunning.

some centres only upload maps and dont do custom maps like the majority.

glad to hear the 09 zx10 comes with minny front indicators as the
standard ones on the mirrors dont do it for me.

998R @ 30 put you off  :dontknow: Come on mate you want a scooter for that sort of thing you don't see 998R's in the Ducati brochure with shopping hanging off the bars pootling around town. I would love one but can't afford the service side. I reckon it would give my ten a serious run on track.
