forearm pump
« on: January 07, 2007, 06:34:47 PM »

went m-x'ing for a few hours this afternoon but my bloody forearms pumped up to the point of hardly being able to hold the bars  :dontknow: , I'm getting quicker each week which is good and I'm trying to hold on less and to use my inner legs to grip the bike.   :icon_thumright:

so the question is how do I stop this awful forearm pump as it takes forever to settle back down  :crybaby2:

Wiggle youre fingers.

No cure for it apart from relaxing or the operation.

cheers guys, I think I just need to try a few things like holding as loose as possible and maybe a bit of arm exercise to build a bit of strength into my weedy arms

thedm cheapy grip thing you squeeze for forearm streagth would be good....... but I had a mate british championship rider he said he doesn't grip that hard with his hands on the straights/jumps etc its only when he man handles it into bend etc that the grip becomes tighter

My 400 gamma used to make me do the same thing with my forearms, but that was due to the very heavy clutch and the hang on factor  :tongue3:

Get a squashy ball mate or one of those grip thingies that Glenn mentioned... :icon_thumright:

The best fore arm and wrist builder is the power ball, those gyroscopic things.

andy the best thing to stop forearm pump is true try to relax when riding plus to combat this is several exersizes i.e squeezing a squash ball start with a white dot up to a red dot?  whitesoft red hard
or grip tester but thats a bit extreeme
if you want strong powerful forearms get a dumbell turn  your wrist so your knuckles  are facing the floor lay your  forearm on a bench or chair and twist towards the bicept and back towards the ground .......... but this will make you forearms  muscular as well which when worked can cause a latic acid build up and cause cramp which is like what your getting?
when im ready to compete for a fight i also do a exercize with a rope and a weight and a piece of steel rode and wind the rope which pulls the wieght off the ground this gives you stupid forearm strength? now when i was motor crossing i had to learn to relax and not hold on too much  allow the bars to loosly to rumble between your fingers  and only hold on when hitting a table top or a burm in the bend good luck andy any help  give me  a shout???? :hello2: :headbang: :occasion14:

There's 3 exercises with light dumbbells that work wonders for arm-pump.  They do work, they're on a Gary Semics motox training video, cant remember which one but i'll try and find it for you
