MERCEDES VITO VAN
« on: November 06, 2007, 07:12:52 AM »

Does anyone has a Vito van.
I'm looking for a van to transport my Zx10R and dirt bike around.
If  you have one can you fit 2 sportbikes in the back and i know you can fit 3 dirt bikes in it.

Show me some pics of your Vitos and any brackets you use to transport your bkes.
Thanks.

My mate works for mercedes and he said the Vito's are a pile of shit.... he said the only decent small van merc do is the sprinter.... for the price you are better of with a transporter VW or for sure transit is the best value and drives the best  :icon_thumleft:

the guy who does my vanhas a vito, even he says its not the best van for bike transport.

sprinters are good but abit large, best bet is a small wheel base semi high roof transit.

you can pick them up cheep as chips

i have a VW transporter van. you CAN get two sports bikes in there but you will need to add extra loops down the middle of the floor. but then theres your kit  :icon_thumright:

its 4 feet between the arches and 8 feet long. (i know this cos i can just fit 8x4 boards in there)

i nearly brought a vito but heard bad stories. can never go wrong with a VW  ;-)

Funny not heard a good thing about the VW vans, despite them being made in the same factory as the Sprinters. :icon_scratch:

Having had a Sprinter and now a Transit, the transits are easier to drive, as quick and a lot more fuel efficient, plus servicing and parts are cheaper too. :icon_thumright:

I have a vito m8 it fekin flies. IT will keep with my mates 170bhp VW all day. You can get 2 sports bikes in the back but it leaves it a  bit tight for room. If you are looking to do alot of track days with 2 bikes the vw is no good either you will have to go MWB semi high at least i would say sprinter or tranny is your best bet. :icon_thumright:

having worked on vito van when i worked for mercedes i can say they are an ok van, if you get the newer CDI engine then yes it will move very quick, as for space in the back there is better

now working for vw the vans seem to be ok but again space is prob not the best unless you get the high top medium wheel base

transits seem to be the back bone of the country, even says so in the advert  [rofl]

Davemfox has got a transit, and it comfortable fits two bikes in it, plus kit, plus 3 up in the front. We did it two weeks ago at Oulton....

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!  Get a transit...They rock  :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Oh yes...you can't beat them....especially when its your bike that is "alledgely" moving.  The dent in the side of the van from the handle bar wasn't enough for them to believe me ;-)
