Well....a late booking for me....but joined Davemfox at Oulton today for a hoon around the tarmac!
Day started early at 5 fucking 30, yes...you read that right! Andy J came along with us and met at mine at 6. Dave decided to saunter up about half past after telling Andy and I we needed to be there/ready at 6. Bloody rig workers...I don't know!
I tell you what ....was a bit bloody chilli at that time. Still dark, cars frosted and Andy's joints aching like a trooper...his arthritis hurts in the cold!
Got to the track. Well I assume we did, as I couldn't tell it was the track for the dense fog around. Looking a bit ropey still at 8am...but starting to lift. The fog. Not the temperature. Both of us where in Inters and had to do 2 sighting laps. funny....don't think you can call em sighting laps when ya can't see the track as your visors frozen on the inside. Bejaaasus it was cold. Like being stuck in an cold sand blaster...only worse! Tell ya, I'm surprised my nipples didn't slice through my leathers

Anyway....weather cleared and people started to speed up. Second session in....and this seemed like not only a busy group (think m25 full of track bikes) but also a lot of fuckwits who wanted to pass you and rub shoulders at the same time. Problem was, the fast group was hosting all the ACU boys ready for tomorrows Wirral 100 race, so most lads had moved down. Thanks. 33 in our group. Was stoooopid! After a few very nervous laps for Dave and I, him getting rid of his demons after his high side last time out at Oulton we thought better of it...and yes...we moved down to Novices. It also had nothing to do with me high siding my bike at Old Hall when hitting the standing water. We won't talk about that though....needless to say my pants matched my brown bike.
Change to novices and was fucking awesome. Front of group (which only had 15 in anyway) and had the whole track. Demons off our backs Dave and I relaxed...our time keeper Mr J was keeping a rough check and said our times dropped nearly 15-20 secs once we moved. Says it all...a few other boys joined us from INters too and we led the group and lapped a few back markers! Weather by this time was a barmy 15degs and track and tyres were as hot as you would want this time of year.
All in a great day....bikes, speed, sunshine and piss taking! What more could you want....
Here are some shots of me...two with Mr Fox behind (only time he was that close all day...but I'm sure he'll tell ya)! Thanks Dave, Thanks Andy, Thanks Oulton!
