A turn up for the books, after finding out who the top man was at the salvage yard ready to throw a few f***ks at him i had a telephone call from the insurance companies repaires. they "found" a Ohlins steering damper in the workshop that could possibly be mine? they overnite courierd it to me and it arrived this morning. And

Its not mine and wouldnt fit a 10. Got straight on the  phoneand told them so they could arrange for it to go back. The girl at the desk asked what i was going to do now, to which i said have a go at the salvage yard. 5 minutes later another phone call " we found another damper which sounds like yours"...................How many bits does this company forget to give back? emailed a pic and yes its mine and again overnite courier to me.  But all this from a company who swore black was blue it left with the damper on and passed the buck squarely at the salvage yard.   You just dont know who to trust these days  :dontknow:

Nicking nice bits will be standard practice with these places......they know full well you won't have told the insurance company you fitted "XYZ" trick parts because the company will load your premium if you give them any excuse...........they are probably banking on the fact that most bikes they get will be written off by the insurers anyway.....any nice parts they can steal before the insurance assessor visits is just a bonus.......the thieving bastards will just hang on to anything for a bit to see if there is a fuss before punting them out on Ebay

The only defence is either taking the bits off before the bike is picked up which is prudent anyway if it has race exhausts.....or err...slick tyres on........taking photos of it or getting the salvage company to sign as having accepted it with the nice bits too......
