what's the deal on track days; about how much, how long do you get to ride, do you need leathers. can you just turn up and ride? which circuits and how often? do you have to share with the cars? any info is good, ta

yes you need 1 or 2 piece leathers that zip together , you need to book in advance and can vary from 60 to 250 pounds depending on time of year and track..

you normally get 20 minutes per session and between 5 and 7 sessions a day depending on how many offs on the day.....

you never share with cars from what I know.... and they run almost all year round

Cheers  :occasion14:  Also on a normal day there are 3 groups                     NOVICE
     
                                                                                                                                                   INTERMEDIATE

                                                                                                                                                   FAST/EXPERT

Each group rotates 20mins on track every hour. So in a normal day you will do 7    20minute sessions..

depends on track I found 7 sessions at places like pembrey,snetterton,mallory but only 6 sessions at silverstone  :icon_thumright:

scuse my ignorance but whats this both parts of a licence thing? Mines a duplicate(can't remember why) issued in 1978 and good till 2017 though if I stay here (azores, Portugal)  I may have to change it for a local one. Just toying with the idea of a trip back to the UK next summer, Ship to Portugal then up to a ferry somewhere to the UK. If I do it  a track day will be a must, preferably snetterton, was almost my second home. Only a thought at the moment but It's pretty appealing 10r's got  long legs and just loves  a  good thrashing

thanks for the info, the idea is going to nag me now. whats all this about brakes being naf on the track? from what I've read sounds like  not enough cooling. has anyone run on the track without the fork deflectors(or whatever you call them) It would be an interesting exercise; not much air flow behind the forks with those on, but  other bikes have them as well. might be worth a try. nothing wrong with the brakes for road use. hmm

snetterton they will defo pile in......  get your self some hoses and a brembo master cylinder it sorted out my brake fade  :icon_thumleft:

tbh m8,i wouldn't get concerned with all the little technical things at the mo,just get your ass on track,see if you enjoy it,and then take it from there,you can over think things sometimes :icon_thumright:

 spent 10 years racing, don't want to go to a track day and have problems.  especially as I'll be 2000miles from home

the "ring" is the only track* i know where you share with cars,no-where in the uk though :icon_thumright:,well apart from the
roads around devils bridge and hawes ;-)
