When I was in the cubs they decided that January evenings was just the right time to take us down the canal & teach us how to canoe, can't see all the H&S busybodies allowing that sort of thing now - would probably take until June to fill out all the requisite safety assesments & paperwork these days anyway !

I went to Florida in Jan this year & due to someone having a heart attack & a plane that wouldn't start after making an emergency landing, we ended up spending the night in Goose bay in Canada.  That's an airforce base rather than an airport, so no air-bridge luxuries, we had to de-plane down exposed steps onto the runway & walk over to the buses - plane full of people expecting to get off in Orlando so all dressed in T-shirts & shorts & it was -47 inc windchill !

Nice folk them Canadians though, even the military police, who sorted us out some grub after the Virgin staff had abandoned us & disappeared off to the only hotel in town to shag each other silly - we spent the night on base in the barracks - no smoking inside, so we got to realise who the really dedicated smokers were !

Must get around to going back some time when I'm properly dressed for the occasion.

Finished work this morning @ 7am, so had a nice detour run down the A339 from Basingstoke to Alton, but felt too knackered for a full-on blat so headed back up the A31 home to London rather than the usual full hoon route home via the A272 & A24

New set of Avon AV 55/56 Storm-ST's fitted on the Bandit earlier in the week & must say they performed very nicely in the cold temps, no problems during the rain earlier in the week either  :icon_thumright:
