amusing bike story thread
« on: September 12, 2007, 03:00:05 PM »

not har har but amusing nontheless, methinks...

well, i was adding a couple of bikes to the previous bikes thread and that reminded me of the honda firestorm. i had one of these hired from a mate who owns a garage in central london and he suggested it because i was used to the v twin sv and wanted something economical to do my daily 60 mile round trip.

so he gave me the bike and i looked at it and all the gold bling on it and just thought
"its ok gabs, just ignore it, its temporary"

so off i rode. about 15 mins into the ride home - so we are talking about being kind of angel/holloway road area - the brake lever slipped round the clipon so that i couldnt use it. the car in front of me braked and i discovered the little mishap as i went to stop. lucky i remembered i have a right foot. anyway, i pulled over. the horrid gold 'screws' had sheared. they were kind of plastic anyway and so i got a cable tie out of my bag and tied it back on.

then about halfway up the A1, i saw the brake fluid reservoir fall down next to the fork. so i thought hmm and pulled over. now i was out of cable ties and had no dot 4 with me, so i took my boot off and tied my sock round the reservoir and kind of pumped the brake line and tilted the bike to try and rid of any air. seemed to be ok, so i rode home. again it was them horrid gold screw/attachment thingies...

im not a fan of bling anyway (and really dont like the firestorm - handled like a blonde driving a tractor to pick up her new shoes) but this was just silly...i reprimanded my mate of course...

pleaaaaaaaaaaase - add your stories...

One of my Old work Mates had a similar problem on His TLS.....blatting along the A329 to Reading full tilt, left his braking till the last minute........  ......the front brake assembly had come off of the handlebars and was hanging loosely by the forks!!!
He hit the roundabout at the end of the A329....his estimation...about 100mph,going down the gears and hammering the fook out of the back brake!! The TLS was a TOTAL FookinG wreck!!!...Mozzy my Mate werent far off that, smashed himself up quite badly but it should have been worse cos there are trees on the other side of the roundabout, thats where He and the TLS ended up in the woods!!!
The Numpty is ok and as soon as he had the money bought himself another bike!!

last year her indoors fancied doing her test so i took her up onto the local fell and proceeded to show her the fine art of motorcycling on my mint TTR600 yam......after an hour she was riding round in first and second, stopping using clutch and brakes and setting off nicely  :headbang: she then decided to get adventurous and rode down a bit of a slope into some mud. i shouted for her to stop and pull in the clutch but she got a bit confused when braking too (she is blonde).by the time i got 10 feet from her she had the throttle held wide open, and with 5feet to go to pull the key out she dumped the clutch  it was the best wheelspin/wheelie takeoff ive ever seen followed by a 15mph highside into a massive pool of muddy shite  [rofl] i picked my loved 1 up and dusted her down making sure she was all ok,THEN I PICKED THE MISSUS UP OUTTA THE CESSPOOL......the funniest and best days riding with our lass ive ever experienced  :icon_thumright: she doesnt ask to learn anymore either...RESULT!!!  [clap]

After dropping my ZX6( gravel mid corner) at 60 I rebuilt it and used cheap mirrors. About a year alter riding home from work I went to adjust the right mirror, it cam off in my hand. Predecament, mirror in right and traffic ahead, I shoved the mirror in between tank and clocks before I could grab brake and stop.

Laughed afterwards. My face must have been a picture off suprise.

I went motocrossing on a day there had been a really hard frost in mid winter. I was on a CCM 604 beast of a bike. Hit a patch of solid ice rear went from under me, me and the bike hit the deck on the side with me onboard, lost control of the clutch and had the throttle wide open!! You ever seen a bike on its side with rider still attached doing doughnuts [rofl]

My mate said he thought i was gonna get it back upright [rofl]

What a fooking numpty

Or the time when i went to spain with my mate and his missus and my missus at the time. Me and my mate hired out DT125's and proceeded to trash them everyday for a week.

We were in these sandy woodlands with some nice space to get run ups at the vast dunes in there. We set out a bit of a track and had a few races with the two birds watching in awe (amusement). My mate kept pipping me so i decided to up the pace to warp factor 11  We were level pegging when we went round the hairpin to go back to the start/finsh point. There was a huge jump just before the straight to the line and we were hitting it in 2nd and getting good air. This time i hit it flat in 3rd  Took off and was on target for a V shaped tree  I hit the fooker band on and the front wheel stuck straight between the V in the tree and i went off the side. The bike was still upright in the tree with the forks bend to shit and the wheel toching the rad

We had to pay some serious damage charges when we took the bikes back and that was after they didnt even notice the forks [rofl]
