for most it's a choice football or bikes, from the people I know there's generally no interest in football if they ride bikes.

I think biking is very much an individual event in many respects whereas football is a team maybe that's it    yes I know bikers meet in groups etc but the bike is individual mostly and it's all completely down to you and not a team, hope that makes sense

there are exceptions but look at milandri , looks like a right pretty boy but smashed his ankle and done awesome on the track.... what footballer works while injured... none of them

As for the earlier remark about dedication, no-one makes it to the top of their sport without dedication.
