Well its been long over due because the weather has been crap, never the less me and a mate dicided to get a track day booked, we dicided on Nial McKenzie premier day at donnongton as it fitted in with work commitments, however we normally go in the intermediate group but there was only space in the fast group, we thought sod it well be fine!!!
The day started well with the sun out, arrived nice and early to get ourselves a garage, crucial with tyre warmers
, met a chap next door with a superb 55 zx10r, he had gone to town on this track bike with marchini wheels, brembo master cylinder, full system, ohlins shock and steering damper, and i couldn't believe he had never hear of our forum, so passed the details on ( to bloke called Pete)
Anyway the time arrived to start our session, sat in pit lane bricking myself as i turned around we notice there we a fair few blokes here from British Superstock
We lead the bikes out of pit lane, half a lap and we started to push it (more than i usually would that early) my mate pulled away from me slightly, knee down far more than normal, inlcuding toes at the same time
Came over coppice to see my mate and his yellow ginxer were airbourne and mixing it with the aircraft taking off from East midlands airport.
luckily he jumped up and looked ok, the bike was fooked
Its amazing what you can acheive with a role of Duct tape, and some cable ties, we got the bike out and he enjoyed the rest of the day, later we moved down to inters
The moral of the trackday is always ride within you capabilities for the first few sessions and don't worry about whats happening behind you, oopps and always take some duct tape
