ZX8R?
« on: June 02, 2007, 04:24:00 PM »

if they made one, this would be 1st on my list.

personally i think they should have continued with the ZX7R but totally revamped.  to be as light as the current models and also look like them.
i was happy on a 750.
i find the 10's too powerful for me to enjoy meself and the 636 not quite powerful enough, although it is quicker than me 7 was.
being a bit kwak loyal for the last 22 years i dont really want to venture to other makes  :pottytrain2:

i know this is a zx10 forum but wot do you think? is yer 10 'fun' enough?

Hey Tony, as you know me and my bike, you probably know my answer. I find the acceleration fooking awesome. I'm still trying to find my confidance inthe front end and the balance of the bike, coming from a '98 ZX6 G1 to a '07 ZX10 is a huge jump, so still abit nervouse of teh power which makes me a little tense in the corners. Once I have relaxed and stop worring about the right hand control and stop worring about being high sided I know I'm going to love it. IF i can keep out of jail with the ludicrous speed. In fact I allready love it. It's just my confidence and getting used to the bikes abilities. Braking, cornering, acceleration. I find the bike easier to hang of than my old zx6.

To sum it up, yes it is a fun bike. But I hear you on the to much power for teh road, The speed can get a bit silly.

I think that a 700-800 would sell well, afterall it works for Suzuki doesn't it  :icon_thumright:

My 05 ten is superb, no complaints from me, it's all about when and how much to turn the 'silly handle' afterall  :occasion14:

With you there Andy. The two GSX1000 I saw yesterday( new) the guys were saying the don't turn it down they leave it on max, who wouldn't, they were saying it's a selling gimmick.

aye, I'd never turn it down, what's the point really  :icon_scratch:  it's not as though it's going to magically save you from ridng too hard by reducing the power slightly, it confused me that one i must admit, guess it is just a pub talk thing where the GSXr rider can say, yes you left me behind but I was on low power  [wall]

It really doesn't appeal to me at all

Waste of electrical cable and electrons if you ask me. If you can't ride a thou then don't try and pretend you can. [rofl]

had a zxr 400 got a zx7r and a zx10r. allways thought the 7 was good and loved the looks but allways lacking in the power. you never noticed untilla 1000 would pull away on the staights. but the handling on it was the best . still trying to find that set up on the 10r which was the same as the 7r but power wise it needed more

Not tempted to put a ZX-9R engine into the 7R ?  By all accounts it's fairly straightforward to do.

only the 'b' motor fits it without too many mods, me mate had one of them and there was nowt in it out on the road, infact the 7 was quicker but only just  :icon_thumright:
the 9 may be a bit more rider friendly though with a bit more torque  ;-)
the 7 is also a bit lardy

my 7 was quicker than a 9 in a staight line so going to keep the 7 motor and possable get the 800cc kit for it . you can also put the cank from the zxr750 which raises the cc a bit as well . as for the weight you can get the bike to go on a diet but in some cases if you lose to mach weight the front end feel changes a bit

The 9r engine in the 7 rolling chasis is a definate idea...

The 9 was a little slow out of the factory but definately had the potential.  I had an Ackro, Dynojet kit, advanced the ignition by 4 degrees and changed the gearing ( 1 down on front and 2 up on back ).  The difference was amazing and the gearing worked out perfect ( Hit top speed just before the redline in 6th ).  It roll on outdragged alot of stock 1000's ( Not bad for a fatty ).

Handling let it down slightly, but could be helped by adding a couple of shims to raise the rear height.  In a 7 rolling chasis it would be amazing.

I would keep the zx7r on the side and really shock some people  [rofl]

if they did a modern 7/8r then yes it would be cool I would probably think about it..... but the ten is where it is at....  and yes it is un nerving and it is too powerful

put feck it learn to harness it.... learn how she works and tweek the suspension change the tyres and you will love her for ever..... I love my ten even though she spat me off this week..... I am pissed of and gutted but I know in my mind that I did everthing right..... when I pick my bike up I will go back on the road I binned it and see what the road surface is like judge the speed I think I was going and then see whether it was just or not....

but I tell ya... I wouldn't have it anyway respect it and she will show you a good time.... take the piss and you'll end up like me.....  :emb:

I love my 750 and can't see me going back to a 1000 in any big hurry. Mile for mile, minute by minute, I have more fun on the 750 - the 1000 was more fun when accelerating, the 750 is more fun doing everything else.
