I didn't say I didn 't  agree but if I am hooning around  ben, I aint taking my concentration of my controls..... it only taks a split second and bye bye me

if your overtaking while hooning around the corner then you deserve to say good bye lol, at the end of the day drivers generaly only move over on straight bits of road and if people cant be arsed to lift a left hand to say thanks then drivers are going to get pissed off and not move over making you more angry for not moving

moving your hand to say thanks doesnt remove your concentration on the road as you move your hands about all the time while driving without worrying plus you move your feet without a loss of concentration while changing gears

over in france and spain they lift a foot off to show a thank you so a hand isnt going to hurt

erm.... there wasa a bit of a punctuation mistake there Chris... I edited it so you can re read.....

and if I am riding around town then I will wave a thank you if they move or let me past...... but I still stand by what I say.... when I am hooning I could give a shit if they hate me or love me my concentration is on the road where I am going and my controls......  and anyway before you al start sayng I am selfish and I am going to give bikes a bad name......

I don't give the drivers reason to think poorly of me I am safe and precise with my manouvers and I am gone before there is any need to be waving like a funky chicken  :dontknow:

I ALWAYS put my hand up to say thanks, especially when filtering and cars move out the way,if Robert is riding pillion he does it for me,promotes goodwill, and they are more likely to do it again. :icon_thumright:

Always do when out in the sticks, try to when possible in town, but not always feasible when your filtering in London traffic, but do at least try & give a nod of thanks.

End of the day it's just good manners to acknowledge when someone does you a favour really & I figure if I don't do it today he won't be so obliging next time, so I look on it as an investment for the future  !   :icon_thumright:

If I am filtering in traffic on say a motorway or main road then I ALWAYS make the effort to say thanks.  And I'll tell you why. Normally the car in front or behind of the one who moves see's the manoevure and see's my acknowledgement. Then the next time I am in traffic (or any other biker) the other two people who witnessed this may be more inclined to move over.  Yes I know this is a "blue sky" theory but its enough to make me think good of people.

I drive a car all day for work, and always make the effort to try and pull over to let them past. And it fucks me right off when I made a real effort to save them unneccesary movement to go past and they don't say thanks!

If you riding faster than roads should allow and make/force a car to move out ya way thats very different.  However we should be on the right hand side of the car and as such have a clutch hand to say thanks (unless you changing down), because if your excellerating you can say thanks no bother. Or like some people have said, kick the foot out....or even just nod ya head to the car...Struggle to see how this is such a chore to do!

Whilst I'm having a whinge, I just thought I would share another real frustration.  Acknowlegding other bikers. One of the reasons I got into biking was the whole commaradery of bikers.  Nodding, waving, chatting to random people who you have nothing in common with other than your two wheels...  Since being up in the north west of the country I cannot believe how many riders who don't so much as flash a light, bow a head or lift their hand to say hey.  You ignorant f**king wankers.  You all want to stick together when someones moans about bikers, or you want Mr Brunstrom dismissed but when it comes to saying hey to a fellow biker....god no! I'm disgusted to be honest.  [wall]

However "I" will continue to nod, wave, flash every biker I see until they all follow suit....so there!  :tongue3:

Sorry....Friday whinge over!

I must admit, down south we dont seem to have much of a drama acknowledging other riders, I almost always get a nod back .But remember, sometimes the other bikers dont actually notice you!?  Sounds odd seeing as you could be the only 2 people on the road, but I've had times when I'm looking down or to the side and by the time I've realised I'm already past them.  Doesnt happen often but non the less I have  missed the odd one or two  :emb:

:iamwithstupid: noticed the samething. When I was dispatchign in London, no worries on the old nodding. Now am living back in the North, no suycj luck - 90% just ignore you. However, when I was in Aberdeen/Dundee area for 8 years, almost every biker nodded/waved back.

i always wave, regardless..
at the end of the day, if your going that fast that you daren't risk taking a hand off, then you should be in the right hand lane, overtaking.....

if theres not enough space to do this, because theres a car coming the other way, then you shouldn't be going that fast between the two cars: you're taking the gap for granted and the  the driver may close it at any time, and guess what..... the accident caused, or your death, is your fault, not the drivers.

just an observation from a young'un. take it or leave it guys  :icon_thumright:
