sell to the cash buyer ..... wait 10 days for the paypal funds to clear if they don't then you know he was a scammer if they do just send them back

I am old fashioned sometimes and good old cash and handshake is never beaten when dealing with large amounts ... sorry for this other guy but I wouldn't trust him in the slightest but thats just me ..... I work in the internet business and I see things like this quite alot..... but this is my 2 pences worth so take from it what you like and make your own decision  :icon_thumright:

Cash talks mate.......i've sold bikes on E-bay and you always get a lot of dickheads e-mailing and offering you 2/3rds of what it is actually worth.......whenever I've sold them the buyers have phoned me, asked all the right questions and then just turned up with the cash prior to the auction ending.   With any sales process, whenever people say they can't get a deposit together they are usually full of shit and can't really afford the bike anyway.  As for Paypal it has always been instant whenever I've used it and I've never heard of it taking 5 days to clear...

Just sell it to the first guy who turns up with cash.  The worst the other guy can do is leave bad feedback and if his Paypal eventually clears you can always re-fund it straight back to him.  if he has zero feedback anyway he is probably not a regular user and you get a chance to answer the feedback anyway.

BE VERY CAREFUL of revealing your address to this guy you are worried about.  If he wants it I would suggest you meet him at a local petrol station if you have doubts and take a big mate too!  Don't let him ride the bike unless he puts the cash in your hand first and don't accept a bankers draft as there are loads of forgeries of those flying about too.

Thanks boys... think I'm gonna send this foreign guy an email explaining that there are too many unknowns here and sell to the cash buyer.  What I'm gonna do is leave the foreigh guy some good feedback on ebay saying didn't sell due to cash buyer but was very understanding etc etc. Then he benefits and will be less inclined to give me dodgy feedback.

Thanks Jim for ya input.... I always tend to meet them somewhere different unless I know off them.  However I have been around situations that are a little dodgy when I've sold some of my cars (BM's, Audi etc) when blokes turn up two or three handed offering me silly money. I find that 1) being someone who can handle themselves helps, or a 2) keep various weapons to hand...swords and guns are good ;-) !  But yeah, some people can be well dodgy!

Not to continue the anti-vibes, but as you all know I'm from Leicester with a large mixed community. And without exception the non native buyers all want silly money off, or extra's thrown in and tend to piss ya around more than others.  I suppose its the nature of the bahta culture that we're not used to.  But sometimes it does feel like a  "Are you taking the piss" moment.

Thanks as ever boys for your input...all helps!

Andy, if you click on the 'paid' notice in your paypal account you will quite probably see that one the next page it reads payment declined , I've seen it loads of times  :icon_thumright:

Yes same as everyone else says, get the real buyer else you may well be fucked about by buyers who have no intention of buying, I had similar with my lads m-x bike last week and in the end sold it to a cash buyer with no hassles, well except he was a 'scouser'  [whistle]

Your a star!  Just done it, and said Payment Refused!  Mahoosive thanks!  As it happens I've just emailed him telling him that I was going to sell to other guy instead but thanked him for his interest yada yada yada...and gave him feedback on ebay!  See what happens...

You can see why some people get conned...I've got a bit of common, but I was confused by the whole thing!  BLoody internet...suppose to make things easier  :dontknow:
