Newbie intro plus your thoughts & advice
« on: March 17, 2017, 01:16:00 PM »

Thanks for the add,
My name is John, I own a 1st gen zx10r it's in blue I have fitted a danmoto gp end can. I have also had the wheels painted in gold.... I know it's a bit of a marmite thing but it looks awesome. I have also done a few other things to don't want to bore you to much. Anyway I have a question, what are the best tyres for them?? Just Road use so I'm after 50/50 tyre.. Grip plus a few miles out of them as well.. 😉

Welcome

Awesome bike  :headbang:

For mileGe and decent grip, Dunlop sport smarts arent bad if you want more mileage go for the road smart

Tyres are a very personal choice but a quick google on different brands and models will help

Welcome to the forum mate :icon_thumright: There are a lot of good tyres out & often on road its hard to split hairs, i have had three sets of Dunlop SportSmart II's on & have preferred them to many others but its a personal choice such is the quality of modern tyres.

Thanks for the replys fellas, like my original post i mentioned that I have fitted a danmoto gp end can. I also fitted a kn airfilter do I to have it set up? I'm also thinking of a power camander what are your thoughts? I bought the bike in November so I have been busy in the garage over the months. Oil change /new spark plugs /oil filter like I said I have done the wheels.. Gold stubby levers /new o e m grips & the clocks I had the Led's swaped out & had blue one's fitted so when you switch the bike on the clock's light up blue.,looks great.. 😉

Hi John and welcome to the clan.
For road riding I wouldn't fit a PCV. It will set you back £300 then you'll need O2 eliminators and Dyno tune. Probably set you back £500 in total. OK if you ride on the track and are looking for every second but I wouldn't bother for the road. Your choice though,  just make sure you don't loose your licence

50/50 tyre I'm a HUGE fan of the new Michelin Pilot Road4, tons of grip at lean and on the power even on cold, wet roads.

A stock gen1 temp varies, but if it's getting over 90°c at speed then there's something wrong. They're not prone to overheating any more than most jap bikes

You don't need a pcv on a gen1 or o2 eliminators pc111 will be fine would pick one up cheap now mine was about £150 years ago plus around £120 to get set up is worth it for improved throttle response
