Quite possibly a new zx10r owner
« on: August 19, 2015, 08:01:47 PM »

Hi all, so I'm off to go look at a c2h zx10r on Friday with the view of bringing it home to join the 4xv and zx7r, it all sounds spot on from the ad and talking to the owner.
Is there anything specific to look out for? It's low mileage with a full history.

Frame around the headstock on the welds - known weakspot from wheelies.
Original brakes are shockingly poor - make sure they've been looked after.
Exhaust valve sticks - check it spins on the motor at ignition on
Certain bikes had rotor issues on the windings - not all but may have been affected - if so should have been done under warranty.
As any bikes - panel fit, brackets, frame covers, stomp grip, etc - make sure they aren't hiding anything

Thanks, a few bits to look out for there then. Did see one with the later brakes, is that a worth while change?
So the exhaust valve you should hear rotate then or see it move? Not looked closely at one before

A Brembo RCS is enough for the road to resolve the mismatched bore ratios internally.

So all set for tomorrow armed with some stuff to look out for and some cash and the gear to ride it home, hoping it's not a wasted trip
