Camera Mounting positions?
« on: March 03, 2015, 08:11:24 PM »

Good people

Can you show some pics of where/how you mount your gopro/action cams to your steeds?

Are those sticky pad things safe enough alone to use or do you cable tie/screw too?

The gopro sticky mounts are extremely strong. I always warm the sticky pad slightly before applying it, wipe the surface with an alchohol wipe and i have yet to have one fall off. I use them on my mountain bike helmet, bike helmet and also on the plastic cowl in front of the tank and the seat cowl on my 2104 zed.

I've tried various places, depends what you want the playback to be like. When in a group, having it attached to the pilly footrest and facing backwards was good for catching everyone following me. Now I have a Replay XD attached to the side of the helmet, so the viewer sees everything I see from my perspective, but the Replay is so much smaller than a GoPro.

Best footage we ever got was from the lower fairing/bellypan screw.
Facing backwards has gear lever in view and everything behind.
Turn it forwards and you have the front suspension/wheel plus ahead.
Alternative was from heel plate inline with the swingarm - again rear view with the suspension working and stuff behind.
