would you buy a cat c bike
« on: June 14, 2013, 09:22:37 PM »

Hi guys sounds like a wierd question because I bought me bike as a cat c but wondering if you would? Im thinkung if selling and saving for maybe another 04 or an 08-09 model but not sure. It has a repaired frame crack but thats all what is in the bike with the odd mark. Would you say yes to the right price or not a chance? Cheers for input

I wouldn't touch it with any frame damage no matter what the category.
Just my opinion.

Neither would put me off as long as price was right, bought lots of written off cars. Things are usually only written off due to cost of labour and brand new parts, do repair yourself using pattern or secondhand parts and there are bargains to be had.

Im going to strip the bike come winter an give new black spray job and thouroughly check the frame as I know they are a weak point an also service the engine. It rides straight starts off the button so think I will keep it an maybe 1 day decide to go newer. Cheers guys

Cosmetic damage is fine, a mullered bike is fine. But frame damage makes me nervous. They are so thin, light and such an integral structural part of the bike I would walk away. There's plenty about.

Crack on mind has been welded but im doing a whole check come winter. Ive read the frames can just crack on riding hard or wheelies etc. I saw that pic above in a Fastbikes mag. Now that would scare me. Id prob fall into a shock state
