I fell off today :(
« on: January 28, 2013, 08:11:47 PM »

I cant believe it, i fell off today i'm 40 years old the last time i fell off was when i was 18 on my rd350ypvs.
I went to work at 5:30am on my zx10r, ive just put brand new dunlop sportsmart tyres front and back so i tip-toed my way to work. I got a mile up the road went round a mini roundabout and fell off 15-20mph, i'm in london and it wasnt cold/wet or bad but this little bit of road was the only bit that looked abit icy for some reason (didnt find out until it was to late). thing is i cant remember what happened one minute riding next sliding. so i'm not sure what went wrong, probably a combination of new tyres and bit icy. thing is how do you scrub tyres in apart from riding on them?
anyway cracked ignition cover/ scraped fairing/ broken mirror and brake lever/ broke rearset and scraped exhaust. so not very happy at all :(    i knew bloody 2013 was a crap number.

Feel your pain fella, been there etc...... as mentioned,...new tyres, cold tarmac, 5:30 am.

Ask around on here to see if anyone has any spares etc to get you up and running again.

At least you on here typing about how f@*ked off you are, don't help the bike though does it mate?

Good luck with sorting it out.  :icon_thumright:

sorry to hear this pal, I did notice up here in cheshire that it was quite icy even though the car temperature read 3 degrees this morning, the car was sliding a lot on local backroads to my surprise, if i had been on a bike i'd most likely had fallen

I hope that you get it sorted and are ok

That is indeed a bugger,

The best thing to scrub tyres is is too put tyre warmers on them for half an hour then away you go,
I am aware not everyone has them, but thats all you get on a trackday or even in a race.
Tyre warmers, one possibly two laps, 6 miles tops, then go, so it should work on the road as well by that reckoning.
