I have the new ZX10R; I thought I could see the issue and I have checked mine visually and I think I can see the issue. Seems to be that your chain adjuster is/was contacting direct onto your spindel or spindle nut. Where's the aluminium block with the graduation on mark on that you line up with  the graduations on the swinging arm? Without it there I would expect to see the spindle protruding excessively through the nut but I'm looking and I can't see that but I cannot see a chain adjuster block either ???

What has just struck me also is that for a new bike there seems to be an awful lot of length exposed of that adjuster bolt, the chain must have been adjusted almost to its last graduation markings with that much of that bolt exposed. Not being rude, where has the bike come from, has an Eddie Scissor hands been spannering on it? I'd have the whole bike checked over if thats in question buddy.

Your right that's what's missing .. The external spacer to support the axle bolt .. I'm not sure you can torque it up correctly without it in place.

Yep, I can see that the torque could be achieved if the chain adjuster block is complete on the off side (has lips to stop the spindle turning when tightened) and alignment is achieved off the spindle nut it would seemingly be OK until ridden and forces exerted through it - it will then twist and bend as seen. Is there any info Steve as to where the chain adjuster block went or was it simply an expensive error. If it's come from a dealer like that they need to be putting things right mate with some humble pie thrown in too.

Your right about the length of the chain mate its been adjusted alot but its a heavy duty did chain it seems after every other ride i have to adjust it as its stretched again and personally i think its how its happened  i had rg offsett cotton reels on at the time with there spacers being black you cant see them properly in the photo
Ive looked on the web and have come across this happening on a few bikes one happened whilst on the dyno so maybe a slack chain my heavy handed riding and the power of the thing could have been the course . ( or not )

are you sure your checking it right? if its stretching after every ride i suspect your setting it too tight and then its stretching itself to the length it needs to be then your checking it and thinking its too slack and starting all over again

I had a Renthal chain put on my '05 ZX10R it was the same , had to adjust it every time I got back from a ride and it was adjusted the same as the standard OE chain.
The OE lasted about 20K miles

Thats shocking. i can only imagine that the spindle has come loose somehow. as a guess id say that the spindle has stretched under torque or maybe spindle is cracked or stripping thread somehow. i would demand new spindle and nut as a matter of safety. Unless something wasnt properly seated when the wheel was done up

Out of interest, since you had the engine work done, what is the torque figure?

Its 90.33 mate   It starts to pick up from 7000 then once it gets sbove 10000 its just daft and to be honest nearly unusable , i went down a tooth on the front sprocket and its much more useable

Sounds wicked :) I ask because (just a thought) if it's producing significantly more torque than standard, that could be a contributary factor in what happened to you. The lightec adjusters are a brilliant bit of kit and I'm sure will help solve the problem especially as they have a different method of adjusting the chain, I had a set on my Gen3 and intend to get some more for my new one. It may be worth increasing the torque setting slightly also, to compensate for the additional torque.

I did wonder if the torque was a factor too , the lightech adjusters are great but they wont allow the nut to go on enough to get the split pin in also the threads on the spindle have marked the chain side adjuster as now the spindle seems too shortive ordered one of there wheel nuts so i can get the split pin in. Id try gilles to be honest mate
