has this happened to anyone else's 2011 zx10r

has anyone else come across this problem on a 2011 zx10r,
everything was correctly torque'd,
can't understand how its happened.
I've now fitted lightech chain adjusters so hopefully won't happen again.

Could have been alot worse its damaged the swinging arm , sprocket , tyre , and chain gaurd when it locked up nothing major tho thankfully

It had offsett cotton reels on and it looks like the adjuster bolt has somehow slipped off it so you can imagine if i tried to blame someone (which im not) what would happen i just dont want it to happen again

was the spindle tightened to the correct torque?

surely it shouldnt of moved forward like that? the bolts are there for chain alignment not to hold the wheel back  :dontknow:

Thats the first thing the dealer checked when the AA recovered it there and it was so im none the wiser to how it happened they had to cut the bolt out as it was so bent

Kawasaki looked at the photo and asked me to make sure there hadnt been a wheel spacer left out of the rear wheel also told to check the bearings as bolts dont just bend and theyd never seen this before.
    All spacers present and correct

As Chrisblack10r said, that bolt isn't designed or meant to hold the wheel back, and nor are the lightech adjusters, so I'd be more than keen to make sure everything else is right ...

At the end of the day, the wheel has moved forward, and it shouldn't be able to move if its correctly torqued up with all spacers, bearings etc etc being present and correct. Even if that bent bolt was left off, the wheel shouldn't move. So the spindle nut either could not have been torqued up correctly, too much is not good either .. or a spacer was / is missing or wasn't seated correctly when the nut was tightened.

Assuming bearings are all good, and the outer spacers are all in place, have you checked the spacer is in place on the inside of the cush drive / rear sprocket carrier, I have known these to drop out in the tyre shop before  ...

Ive checked the spacers are all ok but to be honest i dont trust myself to check much else so i'll get the lot checked when it goes in for its recall thanx alot for the advice mate

There are non captive spacers on both sides.  The sprocket side is easy to loose but if the bolt is torqued up with it missing the rear wheel rotates with alot of effort (take it from someone that knows!)

Theres no much in the rear wheel assembly and my guess is something else is a foot.  Its the same assembly for the last 8 years+ of ZX10R's.
