theres a lot of info in here

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=74&t=1068386&mid=156435&nmt=Marco%20Simoncelli%20-%20RIP

tbh im not suprised it came off i dont know all the details (closing speed etc) but rossis front tyre would have been extreamly sticky, him and his bike weigh a lot (relitively speaking) and they were traveling very fast, the weakest point is where the strap joins the helmet and thats where it snapped

as far as im aware it was the chest injurys suffered when edwards bike hit him that were the fatal injuries

As the force needed to rip the strap from the helmet must have been massive I would say that neck / head injuries would have caused the sad loss

Lets hope this kind of accident will not happen ever again in moto gp or on the road.
Helmet companies should improved their products after Marco accident.

if by "improved their products" your suggesting stop the helmet ever coming off again i disagree as said the force required to rip the strap from the helmet must have been massive had the strap not come loose all of that force would have been transfered to his neck and possibly caused far far worse injurys

As sad as it may be, sometimes shit just happens. Nothing could have saved Marco in this instance, it was a freak accident, one of those one in a million occasions. In the same kind of way Craig Jones and Shoya Tomizawa were killed by being hit by other following bikes, no amount of protective gear would have helped.

:iamwithstupid: absolutly just a total freak accident that hopefully will never happen again his determination to save the front unfortunatly took him back across the track and as said the force on his neck would have killed him
