12v power source help on bike

Hi there putting a 12v power source outlet on the bike ready for my euro trip im poo with electrics ( yes even this simple) do i earth to frame etc or just earth straight to battery ? i have a inline fuse on the positive side 15 amp its just for powering sat nav and charging phone.

Either the frame will be wired dirctly to the neg on the battery just make sure its a good conection on the frame if you use it

Thanks top stuff think ill wire directly to battery easier for a electrical knubnut like me  :emb:

Go and get a standard car relay.
Pin 30 to 12v
Pin 87/87a to the satnav
86 iirc is earth direct to battery
85 is an ignition live from rear light is best

Impossible to leave it on and bugger the battery.

Hammy you said that to fry my brain ? i now have a very confused look on my face  :tongue3: but i have plenty of car relays and i suppose flattening my battery is not high on my list this is my project i reckon !!!! cheers buddy  :icon_thumleft:

You want the sort you get in Halfords for spot lights.
On the bottom are the pin numbers you need.

much easier to wire it into the ign feed side of the fuse box, fuse the live to the 12v socket and bam you've been dutton'd
