well, here goes.......... a guy across the street from me came to see me today explaining that he'd managed to throw his previously immaculate 2001 Triumph 955 along the road, fortunately he's ok on the whole.
Apparently it all happened when overtaking a car and simply losing the front, perhaps on some gravel, who knows. The bike then slid along and didn't hit anything
Anyhow he's at a loss regarding what to do with the bike, is it worth fixing up and riding it again and of so how much do you think it might cost given that all the fairings are either damged or broken, perhaps you know of somewhere that could take all the plastics and repair /paint them ?
what would you do as he's at a loss and loves the bike but really doesnt know whether to;
1. Sell the bike whole and if so at what price ?
2. Strip the bike and sell in parts to recover maximum money
3. Repair the bike but at what cost ?
11,000 on the clock and as i saw it really was well looked after
The damage i could see was ;
- fairings all damaged (tank ok)
- Exhaust hanging but looks like it could be fixed back
- rear footrest hangers snapped, no need for them anyhow a bracket to hang the exhaust would be sufficient
- Oil cooler broken
- One footrest gone
- Left bar bent but he has the originals to put back on , those on the bike are LSL lifters i think
- A small part of the frame has snapped albeit it's only an exhast hanger lug and a new bracket could be fabricated to fit from a bolt nearby to clear that
- front wheel appears to have a small flat spot, can that be repaired, it really is almost unnoticeable
Here are some pics....
