Very clever mirrors that have an extendable telescopic arm.

I think the problem is mirrors are old hat, and unnecessary.  Rear-facing cameras are the future, with small lcd screens either side of the speedo showing realtime views.  Look at the quality of on-board cameras on MotoGP bikes, that's what we need.

Yeah good idea in theory but putting that into practice would be another matter entirely.

What happens if the electronics fail and then no rear view  :dontknow: Also the added weight of these things would probably be a turn off, especially for sports bikes.

How about electrically extendable mirrors?!
Flick of the switch and out (or in) they go!

I reckon you would find a rear view camera set up would be considerably lighter than a pair of mirrors. And in this day and age, could probably be produced for less money than a pair of oem mirrors!

I'll bet that if all the main manufacturers wanted cameras and screens then the price would fall to the same as mirrors.  Feel the weight of your mobile phone, and compare it with a mirror, yet that has a screen and a camera built in.  Small cameras weight next to nothing, I'd be surprises if two cameras and two screens weren't lighter than two mirrors, they are certainly more aerodynamic.

As for the mot, they'd just need to update it, mirrors are just soooo last century

Remember objects in your mirror could be closer than they appear
