If there was some guarantee that these cameras would not be used for council purposes (like issuing fines for parking, putting the wrong stuff in your recycling bin, dog fouling, speeding, etc.) and used for real crime stopping (like thefts, burglaries, assaults, racial hatred crimes, etc) then why should there be any issue. It is not necessarily discriminatory given the locations of these cameras, without any proof of crime hotspots, but it is certainly inflammatory to suggest so without the correct hard evidence to prove it. It may be that these areas "circling" particular communities are indeed crime hotspots, perhaps because of the cheaper nature of the housing because of the crime in the location?

There are arguments on both sides for the locations of these cameras, but none hold any substance without evidence behind them.

Sounds about right because if a family member or close friend was subject to serious crime we'd be glad they were there.

But.............Bags are to be put over dozens of surveillance cameras in parts of Birmingham with large Muslim populations, after local objections.....It seems that if certain "communities" make a noise about various issues something is done about it, I wonder why.  [whistle]
