ROADS
« on: February 18, 2010, 05:01:56 PM »

jesus there a mess this year! seems as if the harsh winter has really taken its toll on them, i drive around 1500 miles a week normally between loughborough and south london and once you get off the motorways the roads really do get bad, i was down in the buckingham/aylesbury/bicester area yesterday and the pot holes where everywere, not only that but the top surface seems to have vanished off most of the A and B roads leaving ruts and loose uneven surfaces in large areas, its the same story up around loughborough and most of the other places ive driven around, really do hope the councils have the budget to put these right soon hopefully before the biking season gets properly underway.

I do a lot of mileage as well - around a 1000 a week.

The roads are in a terrible state pretty much everywhere - the councils are already bleating they do not have enough money to repair 'em....

Maybe they will get their fingers outta there arses after a few compensation claims have gone in.

Pissed off to say the least, some councils have now ammended what qualifies a pot hole that needs to be repaired within 24 hours of reporting it, some have now regraded them from 2inches deep to 4 inches.  It's potentially a very dangerous thing.  will try and find the link to it.

Its been tar and  patch up, on my road,  a B road 3 metres from my windows ,Have lived here 10 years and complained about the state of it so often its laughable... stones hitting the windows like shotgun pelets . The offending strip of road must have been patched up 6-7 times and knakered again by the same evening [wall]  If they'ed done a proper job in the beginning ,well.........   Any way our local council will be putting up our council tax ,so that should sort it :pottytrain2:

I do about 500 miles a week, and I've noticed that they've got particulally bad this year.

It's the constant freezing, thawing and freezing effect - breaking them up.

Here's hoping councils will be forced to spend OUR money on roads this year rather than on f**king us off with traffic calming measures which basically just amount to additional hazzards in the road, lollipop ladies at traffic lights and zebra crossings (ffs - why the fuck did you build a zebra crossing if your then going to post - and pay for - a lollipop lady as well) and spending on 4 different types of coloured bin for me to spend hours filtering though my own shit, for you then to throw it all back in the same fucking hole !

And why are they replacing the street light down my road !?! That's my money they're spending !!! Replacing a perfectly adequate - working street light - with an uglier one, which is higher and thus is now in line with my front bedroom window !!!

Oh no - I need to go sit down.
