random zx6 question?

a mate of mine has a 2000 model zx6, on the right side fairing it has a sticker saying KLEEN CATALYSER on it. i asked him what it was for and he said they all have it on. so does anyone know what it is for? i cant imagine it having a cat on it? just wonderering and he didnt know either so any ideas? :?: :?:

The wife's ZZR600 had that as well, it is a form of a catalytic convertor...me thinks.

yeah also to do with the clean air induction system - filtered air from airbox into exhaust gases through two ports in cam cover to dilute them down and burn off any raw fuel to protect cat in exhaust.

ps most bikes have something similar but have different names for it but does same job.

thanks for that . :occasion14:  im thinking on a 2000 model 600 it wont have a cat though right?i know it doesnt need to have a cat for this system to work it would be before bikes were coming out with cats on i think :icon_thumleft:

Isn't it the reed valve assembly in the cylinder head that allow air from the airbox to mix with the exhaust gasses to give cleaner emmissions?  I've got Ivans block off plates that remove all that gubbins, on the 10, it makes access to the plugs much easier.

thats right they sit on the cam cover then the air channels through into the exhaust ports to dilute gases  :icon_thumleft:
