most disappointing!
« on: January 31, 2010, 09:52:18 PM »

had my new trackbike (2003 zx6 rr) on the dyno over the weekend to check her over for a couple of upcoming trackdays,... and it wasn,t good news! looks like the gear selector problem is a bent selector fork ( which i half expected) but i was also told she,s only putting out 97 bhp which i,m told is slightly down for this model (i have a new k&n filter and micron race can fitted ) and fuelling was apparently good! was told it should be around 105- 110bhp, and was told it could be parastic power loss due to the gearbox problem or that the engine needs refreshing. :dontknow: can any of you guys tell me if this is poor power for this model? cheers.

it's an old bike, that has more than likely had a hard life (being the track tool, not the road going version) so i would expect it would need a good refresh.the gearbox wont be helping though

wikipedia

The term "parasitic loss" is often applied to devices that consume energy from the engine to create more energy for the engine. In the internal combustion engine almost everything including the driveline causes parasitic loss
