Well i normaly just give my Helmet a good old polish .........Mr sheen is good for a nice shinny Helmet.....or some times i just like to buff my Helmet with Mer,,,,the car wax.........i must say that for the best results i let the wife polish my Helmet she has a good technique , i just put that down to the amount of Helmet polishing she has done in the past.....
just PM us if you want my wife to try and put a shinne on your Helmet.

There's a quick write up in one of the last Superbike mags that reckons Mr. Sheen is no good for helmets...

Its not, Mr Sheen is not recommended at all for cleaning or polishing a crash helmet as repeated use could potentially weaken plastics and cause crazing on the visor. Using fairiy liquid is also not recommended as it contains salt crystals which could act like a micro abrasive.

Use only a non petroleum based cleaner like Shift-it or simply use luke warm water and a soft lint free cloth to clean your helmet and visor. Also if your visor is covered with dead bugs, soften them first by draping a piece of wet kitchen paper over the visor and leave it for a couple of minutes. Trying to clean dried on bugs without doing this will only result in a scratched visor. Use a wet cotton bud to clean in and around air vents.  :icon_thumleft:

I use autoglym car polish on my helmet. With a few layers of polish on it the bugs seem to come off much easier and if you use the one with the red label, i think its called paint restore( too lazy to go to garage to check). it will help remove minor scratches from the paint. as for the visor i'm with ninjapaul just a piece of kitchen towel soaked in warm water for a couple of minutes.

I had to send my aria viper back as the air vents at the front broke off in my hand and there was other parts off the helmet coming loose
top air vents and the side slat that the visor slots into was also fucked ! all this on a helmet a couple of months old!
I always washed it with warm water and the old warm wet kitchen towel on the visor to help remove bugs.
when i got it back it came back with a report saying that heavy chemical based cleaner had been the cause of the parts braking.
The only time it was ever cleaned with anything other than warm water was when i was out for a ride ,  usually at bike stops when there is a tub with a sponge and visor wash in it , so beware you never no what the fuck is in there , since then i have never used them but always see loads of bikers hapily washing the bugs of their visors and helmets.
There was also a warning of using a well known brand on the helmet and also one of the bike mags had an article on the brand doing damage to helmets , which was Auto Glym helmet care !
I also found that aria helmets seem to chip fairly easy well the two i have had certainly did . ( could just be unlucky i guess )

"Shift it" helmet polish from Hein Gericke, I used it on the plastic fascia of my new TV after I flew an RC helicopter into it and it removed to marks and light scratches whilst leaving a rather nice glossy shine.

It also got some light scratches off of my RX7.
