Kawaski engine/frame protectors
« on: October 27, 2009, 01:35:30 PM »

Noticed from the kawasaki accesory catalogue, they produce a set of engine/frame guards that fir the 08/09 models. Does anyone have any pics of these fitted to a zx10r? Some engine protection measures appear to need the fairing panels cut to enable robust fitment. I just wondered if the factory production guards were ok.

Hi mate

Just replied in the other thread

I asked Kawasaki UK about the crash bungs a few weeks back and they told me they are not yet on sale (but they might be lying)

I used PUIG no cut crash bungs which you can get from M&P.

I will take some shots later when it stops piddling down

Regards
Rick

Hi Wazhalo31

I got the hoses to continue my green detailing on the Black 10R as they work quite well.

Richard at Racebikebitz did me a good deal as i helped Samco with the Z1000 & z750 hoses last year as they still didn't make any
I gathered a full 4 sets of Z1000/Z750 hoses for them to make the masters from as i wanted fancy hoses on my own Z  :icon_thumright:

The PUIG bungs looked well made and feature a CNC'd left bung bracket which will hold up better than the others i looked at which where cast
& i don't want to cut the side fairing covers as i have a full set of Akrapovic carbon on order and they cost too much to cut holes in :emb:

Regards
Rick

Rick

Thanks for posting the pics of the Puig crash bungs. I assume they bolt directly onto the frame or engine? Look ok and quite subtle. Your black 10R suits the green highlights.

I've seen the R&G casing covers and other protective measures such as the fork and bar protectors. Kind of makes you a bit paranoid though about skudding the bike off the hardtop........still I've seen my mate's 06 crash damaged 10R writeoff so maybe the bungs/covers are arguably worth it, particularly if you're up for using the 10Rs potential.

Incidently anyone aware of sources of 10R parts for an 06? Damage mainly to the near side.
