Speeding
« on: August 30, 2009, 08:24:54 PM »

On the M5 yesterday going west doing about 85, at junction 22 our friends in blue with a hand held speed gun pointing my way. What's the chance's of being caught for speeding? With only a rear plate I assume they can't do anything ??????????? Also on the M4 lot's of average speed cam's, all facing the onward coming traffic, if they can't see the reg. plate of a motorbike, do we get away with it ?

no the hand held one's will just get your plate as you pass them if they want you .

and the same with the other if they what you they just use the photos to trace you . but you got to bin doing something bad for them to go to all that trouble .

Just heard from a mate who has been caught by an unmarked Gixer Thou on A2 over the weekend. 145mph!!! Is that a prison sentance?? Deffo ban and massive fine if not. This guy was on a Black Bird and road was empty. Probably a real buzz for the copper and something to brag about to his croney Rat mates. Bastids!!!!

I am not condoning it, just making the point. 145mph on an empty 3 lane motorway for a few seconds is a lot safer than the idiot who rides at 40mph through your local high street. Dont tell me you've never done it [naughty]

The problem with riding at such high speeds is the police take the same kind of stance as with drunk driving. While a drunk driver may not actually cause an accident there is greatly increased potential for one, the same applies to riding at extremely high speeds (ie well over a ton) you might not necessarily have an accident but you greatly increase the risk to yourself and others.

Yes you could argue that a drunk driver is likely to have impared vision and reactions whereas someone on a quick ride would be more focussed on the road but the risk is still there nevertheless.

I'm not trying to lecture, just saying how things are. Ride quickly by all means but keep it safe and keep the silly speeds for the track (or autobahns, lol)

I agree with what most of you have said, we always slow down in 30's and 40's, but once on a large empty A road its time to have some first Gen 10 fun :icon_thumright:

The biggest problem is now there seems to be loads of unmarked cars and bikes around

There is always a time and a place to speed safely and even upto speeds of 150mph, our goverment have made averyone speeding paranoid, most road accidents are caused by driver error and not speeding

But i witnessed the best piss take earlier this week, a group of local residents near Solihull had set up their own speed trap and were recording all those speeding and reporting the drivers to the local police, the road they selected was a open country lane which has had a 30mph limit just enforced :icon_scratch: can they really do this????

Country is going bonkers

never said i hadn't,i've got a bike that shows 180+ on the speedo, and i've seen it.

what pisses me off is when people moan and whinge about being caught,or slag off the feds for  doing the job we pay them for.

Thats the problem. They DONT do the job we pay them for. I pay them to keep my family and property safe at night from scumbags but thats too complicated for the braindead numpties so instead, they choose the easy job of throwing the book at otherwise law abiding motorists. When theyve solved every murder, rape, child abduction, assault, burglary etc, surely then, and only then, should they put the manpower and money they do into persecuting motorists! Priorities ffs!

its stupid that you can go to prison just for going too fast on the roads, when  scum bags getting away, after beating up a old person !!        should be more like America,  you just get fined   :)
