Maybe I read the VOSA wrongly, but I read it as the following: bikes registered from sept 2001,  honeycomb and non standard country type logos, as well as background shadows etc were a failure, BUT the ruling about postcodes and suppliers name is now obsolete and there is no longer a rfr (reason for refusal) for postcodes and suppliers name and therefore CANNOT BE FAILED FOR THESE REASONS.

I'll have another read before I do another mot but I'm sure that's the case.

its a load of $h1t. as some of u may no they tried doin this on cars a little while back,
and no suprise it quickly got changed back!!!

ppl who came into my work for test, who had bought the car from our dealership,
were gettin plates for nowt coz they bought the car from our place and kickin off when told there car had
failed.

so it wouldnt suprise me if this mot law quickly changes back!
coz how does a postcode make ya bike unroad worthy???

The reason it got revoked last time was that VOSA where tring to enforge something that wasnt legeslation. now its gone threw parliment
its here to stay.

read your special notice it tells you there and that new pages for the test manual can be printed as temp pages till the new ones arrive.

As a tester I and probablly 99% of us do not agree with alot of the regs that we are supposed to enforce.
and alot of us are FRIENDLY testers but we also have to be careful. In the good old days all records of tests
wher done by hand etc. Now with this computorisation our local VOSA man can sit 100 yards done the road
on his lap top with his dongle connected to the net watching what i have logged in for a test. i finish the test
and start to print my results. By the time the paper work is out of the printer
Mr VOSA is at my desk. Now then i have a bike/car ive just given a pass to sat outside. I have ignored the small number plate
with no postcode etc, and the "race use only exhaust" now im in the shit big time. Each mistermena carries a number of points
and too many and i loose my test liscence. but if he feals that i deliberatly passed it not just missed the items then its instantl
discallification. Which leads to loss of job, cant pay the mortgage before you know it im living in a cardboard box behind tescos.
So before any of you give your tester a hard time if they enforce the silly regs remember WE DONT MAKE THE STUOID RULES

Its funny. I always thought the MOT was to make sure a vehicle was road worthy and not dangerous. Obviously a missing post code off the number plate turns the vehicle into a potential hazard.

Again I fully understand and agree with Jedi. NO one deserves to be in trouble but it is gettin a nanny state, irrelivant to what name or code they use to impliment it.

We all know they have the last say whether we like how high or how hot the burning hoops we have to jump through are. I am sure somewhere there is a boring politician who is making his job more worthwhile by added a little extra because he like all the rest have lost touch with whats really real any more, like a 2nd house at our expense...........please!!!! Unlike my growler.....BAFFLED

As mentioned, the MOT is supposed to be a test of vehicle roadworthiness. How the feck does having (or not) the postcode of the numberplate supplier make a vehicle roadworthy? The rules should be simple, is the numberplate of a reasonable size and can it be clearly read. nuff said.

Its just more crap that our overpaid, lazy, fucking bent politicians can come up with to make everyones life that much better, NOT!!! 

There'll be some excuse about trying to cut down crime, but yet again they miss the point, that it wont make a shit of difference because the criminals dont give a fuck and will simply nick numberplates, or make their own.

Myself and highlander read the mot rules again today. It says that its not compulsory anymore to have this on your number plate. You'r not allowed to have the backgrounds,  you are allowed a bagde ie england scotland or euro and spacing has to be correct. It is stated in the special notes, but comes under not compulsory to check anymore. Could've read it wrong but thats what I read. Not the postcode of the owner only the plate maker anyway. They have relaxed these laws by the looks but tightened up on the spacings and letterings to be visible.
