Id give him the money back and resell the bike! Is it worth looking over your shoulder for a measly grand?

Also, as you are a bike trader, this was not a private sale. Your missus ebay account is only a method of advertising, you sold the bike, not her.
Hope it all turns out ok for you.

You did it as a private sale, not through your old company, so no guarantees or warranty implied. SOLD AS SEEN mate :icon_thumright:

personally for what its worth - i try to treat people as i want treated - been ripped off in the past myself (sold a bent bike)
so you got to ask yourself - "how would you ferel if it happened to you?"
If in all honesty you could say  "'i'd be cool with it!" then fine your conscience is clear!
If however you'd be pissed off then do the right thing and give him his money back!
Whether or not you have it, should not even come into the equation, borrow it if needs be!

the only reason to not give him it back is if you genuinely did not rip him off and knew nothing about the condition of the bike

something i would find any BIKE ENTHUSIAST difficult to believe !!!!

but like i say thats just my opinion!!!

i have got to agree with you  24/7 it is a minor milage difference(less than a service interval)  could be any number of reasons for changing the clocks etc, i gotta say i wouldnt have even checked the milage if it had been a bike for around a grand and would think a 20% refund offer is more than acceptable.

I assume he was wanting to return the bike aqs well as get the refund????? did he mentiuon other problems, has he crashed it or something???

The problem is the bike showed 19,000 miles on the clocks but on an mot from 2007 it was recorded at 21,000 miles

for me the mileage is not only different by 2,000 miles though and it was his responsibility to check before buying, so resides with him in my opinion unless he was genuinely misled which I doubt from what you say, although if he knows that you are a trader then will be suspicious of why you sold it as a private sale, perhaps to hide the issue in his opinion.

if the clocks read 19,000  but were 21,000 in 2007 then you need to add on perhaps another 10,000 for the last 2 years bring a difference of 12,000  making a 19,000 mile bike potentially 31,000 !
